Plate heaters

Topné desky

Characteristics and advantages: Plate heaters are flat heating elements for heating flat surfaces. Their construction can be based on mica or ceramic band heaters and then take over the basic physical properties of these products. They can have various flat shapes and many versions.

Construction: The vast majority of plate heaters are mica. They consist of six layers - four insulation and two stainless steel sheets. The sixth layer is usually 0.5mm thick. If this layer is to serve as a pressure element, this plate can be 5-10mm thick. In this case, there are often holes for screws in the plate and the screws are used to position and apply pressure to the heated component. If this layer is only 0.5mm, the pressure and pull are carried out by the plate over the entire surface of the mica plate heater. Often, such heater is inserted into a slot in older machines. Mica plate heaters can be provided with mounting holes, holes for sensors, etc. Electrical connections can be made through an electrical box with a ceramic terminal block, as with mica band heaters, or by leading a pair of wires (nickel core in glass fabric) with temperature resistance up to +350 ˚C into the surface or edge of the plate heater. Plate heaters can also be ceramic. The design is the same as with ceramic band heaters, or it is possible that the ceramic insert is hidden in a stainless steel casing on one or both sides. Mica and ceramic plate heaters can also be circular.
